新年快乐!!~i hurt my finger~

oh well.....i re-wrote this coz the PC hang on me...

It was the Annual Gathering, Eating, Drinking, counting the monies event!!

Seems like CNY is getting less significant each year, as it seems, i cant write anything more on todae....

CNY eve used to be having reunion lunch, and then going out with Jan, Ah bil, the rest and of coz Chiuso for any countdowns or jalan jalan at the 春到河畔 festival at Marina Promenade. but this year, its a lonely one, i even skipped dinner and juz lazed at home, watching boring programs on telly.

Its the First Lunar Day!!
Woke up at about 9ish to get ready for the new year...heee...
Went to Gran's place at noon, and it was crowded already with kids.....and later on, more kids!!! Oops...and they are known as my nephews.....gosh, i don even remember their names. Hmm..it was a piercing pain when they start addressing you Auntie ling ling... *grrrooooosssss* im old. Permission granted - you can call me by name ya noe...

We had nice food that Gran made - Peranakan delicacies - Corriander Duck, Ngo hiang etc...mmm... And the standard steamboat, beer and wine, and Cheng Teng.

After lunch, we went to Kai kan for prayers, and then headed to another grandma's place. It was early, not many people yet, the first batch is gone, and im the second batch. hehe. As usual, felt a bit bored..so what i did is eating and more eating, and summer was juz busy avoiding the kids, who love to chase her around. She is old you know...haha. And did i mention Summer has her own Cheong Sum? Cool. haha

Finally, Janice and ah bil came.....we had more attacks on the pineapple tarts and other goodies..hehe. Soon it was dinner. DINNER??! Gosh, we forgot there is dinner, now we are too full to have anything else.

After light dinner, we decided to watch movie to pass the rest of the day. But warrau...!! All the shows booked!!! The only one we managed to get is like 4 rows from the front (dizzy seats), and 1140pm @ Marina Sqaure. Oh well....okie lor.

We were there an hour later. Ah Bil dropped summer home, and i change to something more comfy. We went to bowl some balls.....it was fun. And it was like the second time in my life that i played. hahaha. I hurt my finger, the nail hanging...and bleeding. sobsob

Went to the guy behind the counter for band aid...but unfortunately he dont have any. But he brought me to the office, where he clean the wound, trim off the hanging nail...and then put this purple plaster - the kind that bowlers use - he said it wasnt medicated, but at least can cover the wound first. Hmm..he is nice...except that he reeks like a BIG MARLBORO Ciggie. hahaha

After the finger is down, we decided to play Pool. Boy, Jan and me sux man! hahahahaa. We play for soooo long leh. I wanted to play the arcade games (YES, relive the nice memories..hehe) I love the Time crisis and the Jurassic Park. hhee. Still remember during Ing Jen's birthday, Jen, Jiin, chiuso and me, went to play arcade games like we were in sec school hahaha. It was so fun.

Anywayz.....we finished the game finally, and went for the movie. It was greattt!! hehe. I stopped going to the movie, since the last day I saw chiuso… I missed my movie partner, shopping partner, bitching partner…and a shoulder that I can crash on..

Went home at about 3ish....gosh. Didnt felt like a Chinese New Year Day.....

I cant help but wonder...Think.....tradition is losing its significance?

10 reasons why s'porean guys r doin their NS - Neil Humphreys

Haha...Neil Humphreys is so funny. Having read 2 of his books - 'Scribbles from the same island" & "Notes from an even smaller island", I came across this column he wrote about - 10 reasons why Singapore men are doing their national service..hehe. Read on...

(1) They get to go to clubs like SAFRA. Ang Mos have to pay to use such facilities at clubs and its bloody expensive.

(2) They get a break from their parents. I (Neil) travelled 10,000 km when I was 21 to get away from my parents and, to be honest, it's still not far enough.

(3) If they go to overseas universities, they can impress the western women. My old Singaporean mate Dave used to delight the young girls of Manchester University with his heroic tales of NS. You'd think he was George of the Jungle. The predator of Pulau Tekong. But I know an injury meant he spent most of this time being Dave of the Office. But the girls still loved him. They saw an officer and a gentleman from Asia. I saw a sotong from Singapore..

(4) NSmen are slightly more mature when they go to university. When they westerners go to university at 18, they get drunk and fall over. When Singaporeans go to university in their 20s, they get drunk and fall over. But they don't vomit so much.

(5) They can appreciate the lame jokes in the Singaporean NS movie "Army Daze"

(6) They have foolproof diet plan. Sweaty clothes, boots, helmet, humid, hot jungle, regular meals and plenty of exercise - the perfect weight-loss diet. All those draft ads in the newspapers about losing weight in 30 days and taking magic pills that lose weight but damage your liver are a waste of time. The military should see NS to men and women. Take out full page ads that say: "Lose weight in three months with the perfect diet - it's called basic military training.

(7) Whenever they watch a Hollywood blockbuster that has anything remotely connected to the military (Pearl Harbour, Blacl Hawk Down etc) they can bore the person next to them (usually me) about all the gun specifications and military drills involved in the movie.

(8) They can humble non-NSmen and impress women with all their "crocodile hunter" talk. mention any wild animal to an NSman and he has invariably seen one, caught one, wrestled one and ate one during his night watch in the jungle. Just say the word snake and they'll cry: "Aiyoh, in NS got a black-spitting cobra in the camp one time. Damn fierce one. i only had a stick (don't they have real weapons in NS?) and had to poke it and push it into drain. Had to fight with my bare hands. But was damn shiok. Because after we had snake soup, which is good for erectile dysfunction."

(9) They get free suntan and free haircuts. In Toa Payoh, it is a 10-minute haircut, S$10. In NS, it is 10-minute haircut, botak, free.

(10) Like in the movie An Officer and A Gentlemen, the get to huny for women at the weekends, which is a whole different ball game when you havent seen any women for a week and you've only monitor lizards for company. The NS boys know what I'm talking about. They are like wild animals during the mating season at Zouk on Saturday night. They need more than a cold shower when they go back on Sunday night. They need an ice box and a welding kit.

Hehe...boys.....are you laughing now or keeping quiet coz you are guilty? =)

Chill @ Ink Club

Its the monthly chill out nite for UNSW Alumni @ Ink Club !

Reluctantly peel myself outta the office chair and head to Ink Club. It was 7ish. Havent finished my report and clearing of the figures for the mon-tues meeting, but oh well....emailed the rest home to do (doom weekend)

Had quick dinner and went to meet the manager for INK club to run through the process of identifying members from UNSW and giving them the 50% off drinks stamp, or bracelet.

Not too bad, the younger members are turning up with their frens, and i met up with those that i hadnt met up recently.

Great to see the rest again, Bob, Ferdi, Kel, Mark, Bee, Georgia.... AND LOUIS!!!! =)

And guess what....Kelvin teaches the art of maintaining the curls:

-> first wash it
-> NO COMBING
-> juz use fingers to brush thru
-> apply something.....
-> the water base if better!! cream..no
-> twist it...
-> use hands to juz shake it

gosh..................he knows curls better than i do! IMPRESSIVE!!!

Caught up with Mark and realised he will be in Singapore for another year, after which he might be moving to either to HK or Shanghai for work. Another busy busy man...working schedule no better than mine hahaha

Generally, the night was great! After that, we left the the place and mark and me shared a cab to leave that place, coz its about 12ish, and getting a cab is really bad.

Ohh! Gotta book the place for Feb's Chill out! Forgotten about that..hehee
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Juz showered, waiting for my hair to dry.......

Hmm.felt that the blog is getting boring.......im prolly juz reporting abour my day, rather writing more of my thoughts....oh well. heee....good writing comes with mood ya noe? =)

...and the meaning of my name....

THIS IS SO DEPRESSING!!!

Good ness. When i asked my fren what my name meant.
Read on - its a sad fact - actually quite true for me. *okok..not the part where they say capture and violated okie,..*
But in terms of holding on to love

"Well my dear Eileen,Your namesake was a rather tragic love story. She was a pretty fairy like waif, according to Greek mythology. However, she fell in love with the most handsome demi-god around than (demi-gods are like near immortal heavenly messengers for the gods & goddesses on Mt. Olympus). His name was "Narcissus", where the (rather negative) term "narcissistic" or obssesive love with oneself derived from. He however loved himself too much, despite being occasionally attracted by your namesake's amorous advances to him. She fell into great despair & started to neglect her duties, most important of which was being the favoured lantern bearer to Helen. Helen in a rage, temporarily banished her down from Mt. Olympus to earth as a punishment.

Here, the Greek fables got even worse. She landed near the gates of Hades and wandered, lost & lonely, pining for her love. There was a Greek minor demon (known as a minion but whose name was not stated), whose job was to watch that site, as many were banished from Mt. Olympus to that area, where the minion would lead them astray into Hades for eternal condemnation.Overcame with lust by her ethereal beauty, he changed form & impersonated Narcissus and approached Eileen. She was deceived by the minion & gave herself willingly to him. After the deed was done, he changed back to his original form and chained the sleeping waif for his further perverted pleasure. Y

our namesake woke up and found herself bound in chains. She realised she was tricked but was already too late as the minion repeatedly violated her savagely.Helen, having missed her after a few moons had passed, started to search for her hand-maiden.

When she finally found Eileen, she was already corrupted beyond recognition by the minion & was carrying the ba@#$rd child of that minion. As it was against the rules of Mt. Olympus, Helen killed that minion and allowed Eileen to take her own life. Her corpse was reportedly burned to ashes & dumped into a river, instead of given a proper burial in the beautiful gardens of Mt. Olympus, where fairies & demi-gods were usually buried."

Okie.......what more can i say~~~

I swear by KIEHL's!

Yes! I swear by Kiehl's...

Cant leave home without my Kiehl's hand cream. Really nice smell, very very moisturizing. I have rather dry hands, sitting directly under that air con duct in that office.

Especially after clubbing (all that alcohol), my palms usually feel very dry.....its kinda a reaction to alcohol i s'pous....

Attended the Kiehl's workshop todae with Janice at Marriot Hotel. There was an invited guest - the doctor who does cosmetic surgery..haha..no...he was not there to ask us to do surgery. But rather, he was giving tips on how we should take care of our skin while we are young. And then he introduce what is the trend woman are 're-structuring' their faces nowadays. Gosh........i cant believe how much pain a woman would wanna go through so that they look fabulous. and mind you, some of them are already gorgeous....GREEDY!!

Some of the non-invasive cosmetic surgery are better now......the botox..etc, eye lid lift....

hmmmm.... *pain*

Anyway, after the workshop, Jan and me went to the Kiehl's boutique at Scotts Shopping centre to buy some of products, utilising our vouchers. I got my micro facial scrub. Really nice to use....mmmm......

If you people wonder why there is a harley in the boutique, its because the owner loves excitment, speed, and thus the love for fast cars and bikes. So, he naturally owns a fleet of them..hehe. He places a few of his darlings 2-wheels in the shop, so that when the girls shop around the boutique, there is something to keep the boys busy. Cool huh.... So the boys wont be asking anymore "are we done? are we going yet? " hehee

After we finished our 'damages' to our pocket, we walked towards Wisma. And guess who i saw!!! Michael Lim & Fiancee!! hehe......havent seen him for so long leh..... We chatted a while, and Jan and me continue more damages that day........ Dont dare to go back to Calvin Klein, i bought a top and skirt that day....and still feeling the pain in my pocket..

Its the SUN!! Its back!!

After 2 weeks of consecutive wet days, today....i finally saw something bright!!!! It was the sun! back to haunt us, sweat us, burn us. heee

Yeah..personally i love the cold weather. My brains are less fried.

In singapore, there are 4 seasons - dry, wet, wetter, westest.

Oh well, the days of wearing my sydney clothes are over. Sun is out to abuse me again. *pzzzzzzzz* sob~

I cant believe it - it seems the wettest period in my stay in Singapore so far. It has been raining furiously for 2 weeks consecutive with heavy rains NON-STOP for 4 days!!! Holy cow... and yes...it was actually COLD in Singapore!!

Office felt like antartic - with the duct facing me, blowing straight on my neck. BAD....but what to do...

Busy busy in the office again. Late for dinner. Suppose to meet dad and mom at 8pm. But my cutie ass was still stuck to the chair till 8:15, trying to send out my contract. Finally met them at 8:35 @ Chinatown and we went to this authentic north Chinese cuisine place, opened by the very very true-blue china couple. The food was not bad i must say, and quite reasonable. Yummy. After that, dad brought us to this "Tong Soi" place, where i had "Shuit Kap" with steamed egg custard - CHILLED... =) Oiishi da yo!!

Watched Simpsons when i reached home.........now....writing...no more thoughts....getting very slow......and donnoe what i am writing oredi...........gotta go gou-gou-ju coz tomorow still needa wake up for the Kiehl's workshop

Safe in a crazy world

I try to smile my tears away
i try to keep my cool oh but one more door gets in my way

i feel like such a fooltrampled and bitter
my heart just wants to bleed and stop believing in me
it feels like nothing is for certain and that nothing comes for free when they're lowering the curtain to theTheatre of my dreams

I stumble and i crumble and i'm sinking to my knees but you, you cradle me
You keep me flying, You keep me smiling, You keep me safe in a crazy world

You understand me, Embrace my fragility, You keep me safe in a crazy world
And in your arms i find the strength to believe in me again

Noise keeps chasing me
No matter where i go oh and life likes pretending that it's on a tv show
When it's hard to tell what's real From what the world just wants to preach
You are the world i seek

You keep me flying, You keep me smiling, You keep safe in a crazy world
You understand me, Embrace my fragility, You keep me safe in a crazy world
'cause when i'm wrapped up in your arms, Nothing else can touch me

What a wonderful way to recharge, I feel like i can breathe again.

Remember i told you about the footprints? If you ever turn around...you will still see the footprints. but perhaps if you continue to walk...you wont realise that im there......but if there is a time when you need to fall back, turn back, im there...

After a while

After awhile you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul,

And you learn that love doesn't meanleaning and company, and it doesn't mean security.

And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises,
And you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open

With the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child,
And you learn to build all your roads on today Because you never know what will happen tomorrow.

After awhile you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much.

And you learn to plant you own garden and decorate your own soul,
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

And you learn that you really can endure,
That you really are strong, And you really do have worth

Its Dennis Bdae & New Year's Eve/ Day!

HELLO 2006! HAPPY NEW YEAR

It was a gathering- New Year & Den's Bdae!! I was early. Met chiuso at Lash @ Fullerton. Called Harry, but he has thus moved to be the PR for Liquid room. But Chiuso's god sis is singapore, so decided perhaps lash will be a great place for the count down and the fireworks.

We started out with some drinks while waiting for Dennis as he is having dinner somewhere around. The rest slowly trickle in.....Ing Jen, Ji In, Kelvin, Chiuso's god sis and her fren, and eventually Dennis! Birthday Toast!! haha

but seriously it was getting boring at Lash, so we decided to move to Velvet..heee. Traffic was bad but nevertheless we reached zouk... The Q was crazy!!! It was twisting...and queue till the hotel. We managed to skipped all these, and enter Zouk with east...hohoho.

It was fun in there...but of coz, my mood wasnt as high...but oh well. Don wanna dampened the day.

It was really great to see Jiin again.

Saw couple of my frens in there as well.....and also Shingo. So long never see him already. hehehe...Still as...cute....round. Hohoho. With his brother and his bro's gf.

We actually ended the night quite early as chiuso's god sis needa go back. As she is staying in States, she is only in Singapore for holiday, and dont have the keys to her mom's place. So we send her to the Cab Q, and me and chiuso took the same cab home.

So tired..and what a night.

Happy Birthday Dennis =)
